Smriti MISHRA

Shaped by the masterly hands of Pandit Durga Lal and Birju Maharaj, Smriti Mishra was a brilliant Kathak dancer when she was discovered bill sheer coincidence by Vijay Singh who was in search of Jaya Ganga’s female lead.

Her controlled and sensitive performance as Zehra in Jaya Ganga won her the praise of the entire world press, and gave her an enviable take-off in cinema. After Jaya Ganga, Smriti has completed with remarkable distinction many other films in India and abroad including Sudhir Mishra’s Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, Shyam Benegal’s Sardari Begum, Pamela Rook’s rain to Pakistan, and Aparna Malladi’s American film Mitsein.
